Recurrent Massive Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding - Complication of Cystogastrostomy for Pancreatic Pseudocyst Following Blunt Trauma to the Abdomen: A Case Report

We report a case of a 13-year old child who developed recurrent life-threatening massive hematemesis 10 days after undergoing cystogastrostomy for a pancreatic pseudocyst. After cystogastrostomy, the pancreatic pseudocyst became remarkably reduced in size. However, hematemesis developed 10 days later and re-occurred 2 times intermittently accompanied with severe hypotension and class 4 hemorrhagic shocks. Thus, the risk of hemorrhage occurring after internal drainage of a pancreatic pseudocyst even in the late postoperative period should always be borne in mind.
